Terms of Use
Plain terms for a small, independent site. Using it means you're okay with these.
CityOfNewYork.co is an independent editorial guide to New York City. By using the site you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
1. We're independent & unofficial
This is an independent publication. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of New York, the MTA, or any government agency. "CityOfNewYork.co" is a domain name, not a claim to represent the city. For official city information and services, use nyc.gov.
2. The information here is a starting point
We work hard to keep the site accurate, and we tell you when something is uncertain rather than paper over it. But hours, prices, fares, routes, and event details change constantly, and much of what you see is pulled live from third parties (the MTA, Ticketmaster, weather services, open-data sources). We can't guarantee any of it is complete or current.
Always confirm the things that matter with the official source before you rely on them — the venue, the transit authority, the ticket seller. Treat this site as a well-informed friend, not a system of record.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, copy, or republish the site's content wholesale;
- use the site to break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site or its infrastructure;
- submit false, abusive, or spam content through the contact or newsletter forms.
Personal, non-commercial use — and normal linking to our pages — is welcome and encouraged.
4. Content & intellectual property
Our original writing, layout, and design are ours. Data and summaries drawn from third parties (event listings, map data, encyclopedia summaries, transit feeds) remain the property of those sources and are shown under their terms. Some articles are AI-drafted and human-reviewed and are labeled as such — see the About page for how we handle that.
5. Third-party links & ads
The site links to other websites and shows advertising served by Google. We don't control those destinations or ads and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Following a link or an ad is at your own discretion. How advertising and analytics data are handled is described in our Privacy Policy.
6. No warranty; limitation of liability
The site is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on anything you find here — including a missed train, a closed venue, or a stale price. You use the information at your own risk.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
8. Changes & contact
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site means you accept the current terms. Questions? Get in touch.
The short version. Independent, unofficial, best-effort. Confirm anything important with the official source, don't abuse the site, and use what's here at your own risk. Updated July 2026.
