253 W 125th St, New York, NY 10027 · Official site ↗
Reopened under its current name on January 26, 1934, the Apollo hosted one of its earliest Amateur Nights that November, when a 17-year-old Ella Fitzgerald sang instead of danced and took first prize.
The Apollo is a working theater rather than a museum — the way inside is a ticketed show, Amateur Night, or a guided tour, so check the calendar before making the trip to 125th Street.
