The Bowery Ballroom opened June 3, 1998 inside a 1929 building constructed as a high-end shoe store and haberdashery that sat vacant for decades.
The room has a general-admission standing floor plus a balcony above, so heading upstairs is the way to get a seated view over the crowd.
