Why go

Built in 1906 by Oscar Hammerstein I as the Manhattan Opera House to rival the Met, the ballroom hosted David Bowie's final public performance in 2006.

Good to know

As a converted ballroom rather than a fixed-seat theater, the main floor is general-admission standing with a balcony level above for anyone who wants a seated overview.
