TriBeCa

TriBeCa (Triangle Below Canal Street) is an affluent neighborhood known for its celebrity residents and the Tribeca Film Festival. Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff founded the festival in 2002, organized in just 120 days, to help revive Lower Manhattan after 9/11. Long before the film crowd arrived, this was the Washington Market district, New York's main wholesale produce quarter through the 19th and early 20th centuries; the brick and cast-iron warehouses built for that trade outlasted the market's 1967 move to Hunts Point and became the residential lofts that anchor the neighborhood today.
