The read Flushing in short
Flushing is home to one of NYC's largest Chinatowns, with authentic Asian restaurants and markets, and is the gateway to Citi Field (Mets stadium). Its history runs deeper than almost anywhere in the city: the 1657 Flushing Remonstrance, a petition by local settlers against Peter Stuyvesant's ban on Quaker worship, is considered a precursor to the First Amendment's guarantee of religious freedom, and the Old Quaker Meeting House on Northern Boulevard, built in 1694, is the oldest house of worship in New York State. The Flushing-Main Street station at the end of the 7 line is consistently among the busiest subway stations outside Manhattan.
