The read Fordham in short

Fordham is a busy neighborhood centered on Fordham University and the Fordham Road shopping district, with easy access to the Bronx Zoo and New York Botanical Garden. The university opened in 1841 as St. John's College on the old Rose Hill farm and took its current name in 1907; its stone campus sits in strange calm beside the retail crush of Fordham Road. Just off the Grand Concourse in Poe Park stands the small wooden cottage where Edgar Allan Poe lived from 1846 to 1849, writing "Annabel Lee" and "The Bells" there — it survives as a museum run by the Bronx County Historical Society.
