Port Richmond sits on Staten Island's North Shore at the Kill Van Kull, in the shadow of the Bayonne Bridge (opened 1931). Settled by Dutch and French colonists in the 1690s, it later drew Irish, German, Italian, Polish, and Scandinavian immigrants to its 19th-century docks and factories. No rail serves it directly — buses (S44, S46) connect to the rest of the island.
