The read Crown Heights in short

Crown Heights is known for its West Indian culture, the annual West Indian American Day Carnival, and proximity to the Brooklyn Museum. The carnival has run down Eastern Parkway on Labor Day since 1969 — a fitting stage, since the parkway, built between 1870 and 1874 to a design by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, is credited as the world's first parkway. The neighborhood is also home to the Brooklyn Children's Museum, founded in 1899 and recognized as the world's first museum created for children.
